Rocker Tycoon Day: The Unbeatable Cry by Cryptkeeper Five
One of the first bands that really encouraged me to do this blog. Looking back it seems so obvious, but I wasn’t sure everyone was gonna want me flashing bulbs and taking video of them. WOW I was so wrong. Anyhow they’ve been friends since, and I’m proud to stay I played my very first Show as the lead singer of WarFace with them. Some memories are just too rad! So we have the Unbeatable Cry. Think if Jerry Lee Lewis sang for the Misfits. This song is so much fun. If you like songs about Death, about pirates about the Karate Kid… and I know you do. Then you owe it to your your to check out these maniacs.
Rocker Tycoon Day: Seven Days a Week by Secret Country
It seems like Secret Country always has their thumb on the pulse of what up in my life. Take Seven Days a Week for example. It’s about drinking… 7 days a week. What could be more Rocker Tycoon than that? The secret country gang delivers like the Grease Trucks at 4am with this tune. It’s fun it’s danceable (you’d expect no less) and it’s based on a true story. In fact that a recipe for everyone of their songs… for the most part.

Rocker Tycoon Day: Seconds as an English Language by The Everymen
Normally I really have to know a song before I wanted to start dancing to it. No sir, not Seconds as An English Language by the Everymen. I made like Risky Business when I heard this. Let me go on record as saying that generally I have a distaste for live albums. That drawn out mid set banter that works well while your bassists in tuning just doesn’t really translate in recording. The Everymen must have figured this out. I’d say it’s the best Live album since I Heard They Suck Live by NOFX. Minimal bullshit, they swing from song to song like it’s not legal to play for the duration of their set. Michael Venutolo-Mantovani (say that three times fast) lead the consumate lead man. Great voice, a style like Bobcat Goldthwait and Wolfman Jack. This album is a disent into madness, yknow what else … it’s free so get it.
Rocker Tycoon Day: Lower Places by Nikki Sue & the Bad News
It’s about time for another video. But this time I didn’t take it at a show. Instead this is an official music video for Lower Places by Nikki Sue and the Bad News. What a sick like tumbling riff! About the Video… We finally get to see what was in that GODDAMNED suitcase in Pulp Fiction. (I told you it wasn’t Marselus Wallaces soul.) This song was a preview for NS&tBN’s new Album on the same name. If you need a country fix in the big city this is your kinda thing. If you still have that “I don’t like country” stigma let me just say two things. 1) You’re listening to the wrong country music. 2) Get your head out of your ass, country is the roots of rock.

Rocker Tycoon Day: Some Small Assurance by Quebec, Quebec
Quebec Quebec is a Scott Thompson side project. Perfectly timed while we wait patiently for Meet Pause to find a bassist to replace Sean “You’re Still Dead to Me” Favre. Scott teams up with Nikki Sue of Bad News fame on this track. If Meet Pause is this scene’s Death Cab then Qubec, Quebec is most certainly it’s Postal Service. Plenty of duets and Banjo without the Ken Rogers/ Dolly Parton experience, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
