Rocker Tycoon Day: Rather Be Blind by Cotton
Whoa dudes! This song starts out like the beginning of Contra. LOVE IT. Driving force guitars and kick ass drum work forges this power rock song into the future. Likely to destroy aliens that look suspiciously like TV’s. The vocals are clean and crisp. If I were in charge of music for a remake of Flash Gordan. This song would be in a starship chase.
Rocker Tycoon Day: Bananazzz EP by Bananazzz
Brett Davis has like 40 personas. I mean the dude is more mercurial than Mystique. His STR8 Edge persona Bananazzz is bananas. It’s a must listen. Bananazzz is so camp you’d almost thing it was totally serious. I’m not even sure it’s not serious. I do know this. This fucking hilarious.
Rocker Tycoon Day: The Difference between Love and Addiction
Elements of Stabbing Westward, Smashing Pumpkins and Joy Division make this one of the more dramatic songs I’ve written about today. Those Mockingbirds new single shows a real promise of things to come. I’d like to take a minute to call attention to the drums in this song. Brilliance. Simple when they need to be intricate when it matters. The song is ultra catchy with an easy chorus to sing along to. I really dig the breakdown with competing vocals as well.
Rocker Tycoon Day: The Unbeatable Cry by Cryptkeeper Five
One of the first bands that really encouraged me to do this blog. Looking back it seems so obvious, but I wasn’t sure everyone was gonna want me flashing bulbs and taking video of them. WOW I was so wrong. Anyhow they’ve been friends since, and I’m proud to stay I played my very first Show as the lead singer of WarFace with them. Some memories are just too rad! So we have the Unbeatable Cry. Think if Jerry Lee Lewis sang for the Misfits. This song is so much fun. If you like songs about Death, about pirates about the Karate Kid… and I know you do. Then you owe it to your your to check out these maniacs.
Rocker Tycoon Day: Seven Days a Week by Secret Country
It seems like Secret Country always has their thumb on the pulse of what up in my life. Take Seven Days a Week for example. It’s about drinking… 7 days a week. What could be more Rocker Tycoon than that? The secret country gang delivers like the Grease Trucks at 4am with this tune. It’s fun it’s danceable (you’d expect no less) and it’s based on a true story. In fact that a recipe for everyone of their songs… for the most part.

Rocker Tycoon Day: Seconds as an English Language by The Everymen
Normally I really have to know a song before I wanted to start dancing to it. No sir, not Seconds as An English Language by the Everymen. I made like Risky Business when I heard this. Let me go on record as saying that generally I have a distaste for live albums. That drawn out mid set banter that works well while your bassists in tuning just doesn’t really translate in recording. The Everymen must have figured this out. I’d say it’s the best Live album since I Heard They Suck Live by NOFX. Minimal bullshit, they swing from song to song like it’s not legal to play for the duration of their set. Michael Venutolo-Mantovani (say that three times fast) lead the consumate lead man. Great voice, a style like Bobcat Goldthwait and Wolfman Jack. This album is a disent into madness, yknow what else … it’s free so get it.
